KION TV Monterey-Salinas, has an immediate opening for a Weekend Meteorologist/MMJ.
The Weekend Meteorologist/Multimedia Journalist is responsible for producing and anchoring weather casts using state-of-the-art weather forecasting equipment (WSI) and reporting as a general assignment MMJ three days a week. At least two years of on-air experience preferred.
Meteorologist duties include forecasting and building weather maps using computer generated graphics, as well as posting forecasts to web. The ideal candidate will have a great on-air, connecting with our local views during live news casts at 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, and reporting the weather of the day clearly and comfortably.
As MMJ, the candidate will shoot, write, edit and present compelling news content for multiple platforms.
The candidate should also be active and engaging with viewers via social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter. The ability to interact well with co-anchors and other personnel, and meet all deadlines and work schedules, is also essential to this position. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. The candidate must have a four-year meteorology degree. Experience with WSI is a plus. A valid driver's license is required. Candidate must pass a drug test and background check.
