Two people under the age of 65 have been killed by the H1N1 flu virus, said Monterey County health officials.
Monterey County public health officials urge all individuals six months of age and older to get vaccinated against influenza. The current influenza vaccine protects against H1N1.
“Influenza vaccination is a safe and effective way to protect your family from complications of influenza,” states Dr. Edward Moreno. “It’s not too late to get immunized.”
Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System is offering free influenza vaccinations Saturday, January 18th, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 450 East Romie Lane, Salinas, in the MRI parking lot. Vaccinations are available for individuals 6 months of age and older.
Free or low cost influenza vaccinations are offered by the Monterey County Health Department’s Clinic Services Division. Walk-in services are available Monday through Friday 08:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
