Teen hit by car in Salinas


Amid the New Year's Eve festivities in Santa Cruz, a two-car collision is causing a headache for people trying to go to the city.

The California Highway Patrol has now issued a Sig Alert for both lanes on Highway 9 near Pacific Street after two cars collided and both parties had to be airlifted out.

CHP says people should use an alternate route to get through the area.

People heading northbound on Highway 9 are advised to take Clear Creek to Alta Via Road to Alta Via Drive.

People heading southbound on Highway 9 are advised to take Alta Via Drive to Alta Via Road to Clear Creek.
