SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. -

A 71-year-old Los Gatos man is dead after a collision between the motorcycle he was on and a 2005 Ford F250 truck.

It happened on Granite Creek Road Wednesday afternoon, closing the area between Lauren Circle and Branciforte Drive until just after 3 p.m.

California Highway Patrol says the Ford was headed northbound and the motorcycle was headed south when one of them crossed the double yellow line, causing the collision.

The motorcyclist was thrown 15 feet down an embankment and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford was a 43-year-old man from Santa Cruz, who was driving alone and was uninjured.  He's cooperating with police.

The cause is under investigation.
