A Georgia man pulled over on suspicion of drunk driving is accused of handing officers a beer instead of his driver's license.

Damon Tobias Exum, 37, slammed into a squad car in Dunwoody shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday.

The officer was not injured in the crash and managed to chase down Exum and pull him over, Atlanta TV station WSB reported.

But when asked for his license and registration, Exum handed the officer a beer, according to police.

Exum was "totally unaware that he had collided with the officer's patrol car," police spokesman Sgt. Fidel Espinoza told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

He was arrested on eight misdemeanor charges, including DUI and reckless driving.

It was Exum's third DUI arrest.
