GILROY, Calif. -

Two people were shot in Gilroy onTuesday evening near Las Animas Park off Mantelli Road just after 6 p.m., according to police.

Police say a 68-year-old hispanic male victim died from his gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. The second male victim was transported to a trauma center, according to police.

One block of street is completely blocked off right now and a couple people aren't allowed to go home.

Police say the suspect is still on the loose and left the scene in a white Toyota Celica with at least two male occupants.  Police don't believe it was gang-related.  Witnesses in the area were the first to report the shooting to officers.

Central Coast News has a reporter on scene.  We'll have the latest as it becomes available.
