Emergency crews are investigating an deadly accident that happened on Salinas Road at Lewis Road in Pajaro Tuesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 2:45 p.m. along a stretch of road where cyclists are often seen riding.
Officers say a 73-year-old man from Aptos was riding northbound in the right shoulder, then made a sharp left turn into on coming traffic. That's when a 43-year-old female driver from Watsonville hit the cyclist.
CHP says drugs or alcohol don''t appear to be a factor and the driver and two young passengers were not hurt.
Officers say the cyclist was wearing a helmet and anyone on a bike should give drivers a hand signal if they plan to turn.
We don't know if that was a factor in this crash yet.
