SALINAS, Calif. -

A rally protesting fracking, which is a controversial process of getting oil underground, is being held Wednesday in Salinas to coincide with a public meeting of state oil and gas leaders.

The public meeting is being hosted by the State of California Dept. of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) regarding statewide regulations for fra?c?king at the National Steinbeck Center, One Main St.

The protest is expected to take place at that same location at 5:30 p.m. in coordination with Californians Against Fracking, a coalition of over 100 statewide groups.
