Marissa Schwartz joined Central Coast News as a reporter in August 2012.

She started her career as a college student at Cal State Long Beach, earning her BA in Speech Communications with a minor in journalism.  Marissa wrote articles for the college newspaper and interned for the Beverly Hills Weekly.

Print journalism led her to the exciting world of TV news, which later took her to the East Coast.  Marissa earned a Master's in Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College in Boston, Mass.  During her time in Boston, she worked at the college TV and radio stations while interning at WCVB-TV, the local ABC affiliate.  After an internship on the assignment desk at WCVB, she was hired as a part-time assignment editor on one of the busiest desks in the country.

With an MA under her belt, Marissa landed her first on-air reporter job at WHBF-TV in Rock Island, IL in 2010.  She covered devastating floods, presidential visits and local corruption stories, to name a few.  By 2012, Marissa decided California was calling her back home.  That’s when she and her family made the leap to the Central Coast where they currently live in Monterey.

Marissa loves to spend time with her family, hike along the Big Sur Coastline and explore new neighborhoods on the Monterey Peninsula on her weekends.
