21 arrested in gang suppression operation

GREENFIELD, Calif. -

A 15-agency operation, led by the Greenfield Police Department, landed 21 offenders in handcuffs during the late hours of Friday and early hours of Saturday.

he operation was part of the California Gang Reduction, Intervention, and Prevention (CalGRIP) Program.  The majority of the arrests, 13, happened in Greenfield.  The other eight were split evenly between Soledad and King City.

The charges range from violation of felony probation to various meth-related charges - even possession of a firearm with an altered serial number.

During the operation 30 traffic stops, 10 pedestrian checks, and 50 parole/probation compliance checks and executions of warrants were conducted.

Participating agencies included police departments of Gonzales, Soledad, King City, Del Rey Oaks, Greenfield, the U.S. Marshals, Soledad State Prison, Salinas Valley State Prison, California Department of Corrections, California Parole Department, Monterey County Adult Probation Department, Department of Homeland Security/ICE, and the California Highway Patrol.
